What Mel taught on tonight ... if you missed out!! (UNVEILED)

Lesson taught by Mel, Notes taken by Savy

David is about to die. Yayyy!
David is dying, so they bring in a virgin to keep him warm... ok...

Adonijah - full brother to Absolom, decides he will exalt himself.
v 7-10: Adonijah invited everyone... EXCEPT Nathan, Benaiah (and mighty men), and Solomon.
Have you ever planned something and purposefully avoided telling someone, because you know you are not doing right?
All God is waiting for is for us to say "Yes, I was avoiding you. Thank you for not giving up on me."

v. 11-21: See what had happened was... Nathan told Bathsheeba to remind David of his heir.
"I and my son with be counted as an offender."
Have you ever been counted an offender because of someone else's actions?

v. 22-27: Bathsheeba says "you have said A." Nathan says, "Have you said B?" Giving David the authority while keeping him accountable to what he has said. Checks and Balances.

Basically:
Calls in Bathsheeba and all the people and appoints Solomon as king. Take that, Adonijah.
The people following Solomon made a great noise of celebration.
Adonijah: "The jig is up!" *cue Renegade sound track*

The people praised David and his son Solomon. David felt blessed to see his son restored to the throne. Adonijah is a afraid of Solomon. He grasped the horns of the altar (a means of seeking asylum or sanctuary, to plea for mercy.) Adonijah realized he had screwed up... royally. hehe.

When we realize we have done wrong, do we live in fear or do we beg forgiveness and then live in that freedom? Obviously we must first admit our guilt in order to ask forgiveness, or do we point fingers? Adonijah did not point fingers.

Do we dwell on our own past sins, unable to move on from our own guilt? In 2 Corinthians, Paul says we are a new creation, the old has passed away. Do we claim that renewal in our daily lives?

Be honest in love. "Let me help you. I've been here."
