What Mel taught on tonight ... if you missed out! (CRY)

From Joshua 22

Let's break it down

'To love the Lord God and walk in His ways'

Do not do what the Lord would not do

'Cleave to the Lord'

Looking up the definition of cleave we see that it is the hold onto or grasp without letting go. Not too hard to what this means for us that love the Lord. If you are holding in this way to the Lord, then how can you hold onto anything else?

They end up building their own altar that is against the Lord.

It is interesting to see those winning spoils and being in a good place turning away from God. Though honestly, is this something that is odd? No. To me, when I think about it I really want my victories be mine, but my mistakes for God to sweep in and solve those issues. And even in those wins I want to be the one seen as the winner.

Interesting how they then are able to please the priests with some odd excuse of it being for remembrance. Is this possibly the true reason for the building of this altar? Not sure, but in the end with reprimand (and the possibility of war), they make the altar in some way for the Lord.

How often are we in this position? We make choices that really go against the Lord, but then later make it good and about the Lord.

I personally like, as stated above, to be the one seen as the victor. Even when I make a foolish mistake and someone sees it as a great act for God, I want to really pretend it was my intended purpose for my action. I lean heavily on truth an despise lying, so this 'letting others believe what they think' about my actions never really sits well in my soul. I like being perceived as intelligent and witty, but know here and now - most of the great ones (probably all of the great ones), those are God taking my trash and making it awesome.

Let's not lie to ourselves and say that what we do is right just because of a good outcome.
