What Hannah taught on tonight ... if you missed out

Lesson taught by Hannah - notes taken by derk

The Book of Ruth

Chapter one : famine. > no food

Naomi's husband died - then the sons died - a widow with no kids

She traveled with her daughter's inlaw and asks them to return to where they left from, but Ruth 'clung ' to her.

Normally motherinlaw means a bad thing now a days but not with them. Shown by how Ruth stays with her

They went to Bethlehem

Almighty. Yet in calling Him that it seems Naomi is not really seeing him AS the Almighty.

Chapter 2

Ruth goes to work in a field belonging to Boaz which is a relative of Naomi - this actually catches the eye of Boaz, who now wishes her to stay!

'Why have I found favor in your eye - being a foreigner'

He gives her food and even makes sure that she has a bit easier time to get what she needed as she works.

Ruth was not just doing this for herself - her motherinlaw was in need(this was one of the only ways for them to get food) and Boaz knew of this.

Chapter 3

Is it time to find a husband?

Ruth goes to lay down over the feet of Boaz in pursuing him as a husband. He accepts - even gifting Naomi and going about the accepting of it 'properly '(there was another that would normally be more acceptable for marriage - Boaz showed his honor in that he let this choice occur)

Chapter 4

The way this happens with the purchasing of land _ the other man declines due to the fact of inheretance.

The marriage occurs. > and now the lineage of Naomi will continue.

This marriage actually was the 'creation' of Obed, the grandfather of King David.

So without this 'love story' the lineage of Jesus is gone. Therefore the 'love story' of God may have died there as well.
