What derk taught on tonight... If you missed out! (CRY)

Lesson taught by derk.. Notes taken by Peden

1 Samuel 17

Derek is doing a maby card trick. David is represented by the king of Spades. In this corner we have the champion for the Philistines with his suit of armor alone weighing in at 125 pounds standing a towering 9 feet 9 inches tall! Goliath of the Philistines. In the other corner a young naive and unequiped boy, David. Let's just jump back alittle bit. David the youngest of Jesse's eight sons, who was left at home to watch after the sheep was concerned about the battle against the Philistines, so he went to the battlefield to investigate. Ariving at the battlefield he is met with a brother who in an attempt to discourage David from his inquiries about why the Israelites hadn't fought off the Philistines yet. His questioning apparently was intimidating enough that Saul called for him. Saul rebukes David by telling him that he was too young. David replied that he had rescued one of his sheep from the jaws from both a lion and the bear. Saul impressed by Davids story, attempted to equipt David with armor. David trys the armor on; however, it didn't feel right so instead he just decided to trust solely in God. As we all know David then went selected 5 stones then went forth to the battlefield. Although Goliath came out in complete armor and armed to the teeth, David trusting in the Lord stepped forth. The young, ignorant, and illequipped David, trusts solely in the Lord and slays Goliath. The main thing to get out of this entire lesson is that David, although he could have used any of the excuses,(too young, ignorance of the events of the battle, illequipped) however he trusted in the Lord and just did it. Trust in the Lord and just do.
