Lesson taught by Savvy, Notes taken by derk (fyi Savannah started her own blog... and is going to be releasing a full set about this lesson.. check it out there ... HERE: http://markedbymercy716.blogspot.com/ )
2 Samuel 22
1-4
David's last song...
Should prayer and discussion with God start with self or with God.. we see here David understood it should start with God..
David really grasped the reality that God is worthy to be praised no matter any situation.. and we really have seen him live in this way.
7-10 (there will be more skipping!)
don't make God angry!! oh.. and in this we see the intensity that God stands up for David.. so much authority! This is the God that is with us in ALL things to work His will!
Each time someone came against David.. God took action and they were usually in some way 'punished' greatly..
An important note I (derk) thought of was to be sure to keep a loving are caring attitude in situations like this.. leaving judgement IN God's hands .. and be like David NOT asking for their downfall, and maybe even having enough compassion to mourn in the downfall if it does come..
17-18
'God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called' .. 'God calls those that 'can't' so that HE CAN'
26-28
Going to God has so much to do with 'heart thoughts' why have you not received?.. maybe it really is due to the attitude that you come to God.. Are you pushing Him away as you walk to Him?.. or moving to Him in your true and honest desires..
How does David's prayer reflect our own prayer life attitudes towards all things in your life?
Chapter 23 (David's last words)
David gives words that set a mood that he wishes the 'world' to remember him by...
Is there some way that you would like people to know and speak of you after you are gone?
2-4
In the same way... how do people actually react to your actual presence.. do you 'infect' with negative or 'infect' positive.
5-7
We should truly have confidence in the things that God has promised.. David really shows a great belief in this..
Chapter 24
David acquires guilt and gets to choose an affliction on the nation of Israel (He was allowed to pick his switch)
It actually seems like David kind of hands it back to God for Him to choose instead.. (possibly giving the possibility of mercy?)
David then goes right to doing what is commanded by God to end the plague...
David's response to the need for sacrifice is powerful.. to show that he is willing to 'give up' what is his to help his people.. truly the right attitude of a leader..
How do you give to God?
