As you may be able to see we have moved our days for this and as well we are no longer under the umbrella of Celebrate Recovery... We are holding much of the same principles but are more widely open... Much more like a home bible study then anything.( if you would like to see notes from the past use this link here CRY NOTES )
Lesson taught by Abi, note taken by derk
1 Samuel 25
Samuel dies in this chapter and Israel laments
Nabal and Abigail
Nabal actually means fool, which says something interesting about his parents and what they thought of him..
Sheep shearing time is usually when they would feast so David and his men ask for some food
Nabal decides not to help them out and as well insults them
When Goliath insulted the Israelites he stepped in I have it stopped... His thoughts on insults still had when Nabal did so to him
David called his men to arms
Davids men were protecting these people all this time and are not exactly charging for it, so Nabal's reaction is a bit uncalled for
Abigail is called on to fix the problems and works on it without telling her husband what she was doing
The two "armies" meet in the middle of the raven
David is out for blood - yet Abigail takes the blame and calls for mercy on her husband
Interestingly it is amazing how she calls on the past how David slew Goliath of with a sling... At least it seems that way
David accepts her and also accepts that he is glad to not have to kill those that he was ready to kill
Abigail the tells Nabal what happened while he is sober... And he has a stroke that ended up leading to his death (God finished him off...)
Amazingly this turns into Abigail becoming David's wife (even willing to be a servant to David)
Her servants heart with both Nabal and ready for David is great
We discussed many things about how she had the great attitude to stand up to a man that was willing to kill her husband (who likely was not a great husband to her)
Sometimes we should have that great faith in God like Abigail... No matter the situation or the insane danger that may occur... If God calls you to it... He WILL get you through it!
How good are you at letting God take care of revenge for you?
