What Savvy taught on tonight ... if you missed out! (CRY)

From Judges 1 & 2

In chapter one really recap some of what we have already been talking about - the taking of the lands and such

Also there is a man that was caught - and had his thumbs and big toes cut off. He saw this as 'retaliation' for all those that he had done the same to.

It also talks about the death of Joshua.

In chapter 2

An angel gives a message detailing that the lands would not be as easily defeated, based on the actions that the nation took against the deal with God(making deals with other lands/nations).

A generation gap comes and all of the nation of Israel is now turned away from God, now serving many differing gods around them. God hands them over to their enemies, they now have no victory.

In come the Judges! The judges would 'free' the nation and bring them back toward God, but following the death of the particular Judge the nation would fall apart again.

Romans 8:31-39
Many of us (here at CRY) have felt the same spirit of oppression during this week. We needed some uplifting.

Romans 8:28 As much of a 'cope out' this could be - "if God is for us, who can be against us?"

When the nation of Israel was in right standing, they had victory (even within enslavement and other toils) bit when fallen from the Lord victory was practically impossible.

From Paul to the Romans - he wanted them to know that because of God within us- we are unbeatable, unjudgeable, and un????.

Being that it is good Friday - it goes for mentioning the reason of our victory in Christ. Looking at all our defeats, we can easily grasp defeat in our hearts - but instead let us look at the positive things in our lives(in this we can hold the hope of victory within us).

Paul knew hardships - 2 Corinthians 11

"how's your day been?" Read the above passage and answer again..

Going back to Judges you do not only see victory, but also defeat - it is not as easy as it sounds to live this life, we are ALL dealing with the same kinds of issues. Let us be encouraging and uplifting to ALL others around us - no matter their lifestyles and choices.

Questions to ponder:

Where are the victories in your life?

If you do not see victories, is it possible it is because of your own disobedience?
