My wife and I were taking pictures from the start and by the end, as we exited the establishment we had stuffed our bellies, we decided we wanted a group picture.
My wife asked a woman near the door, who most certainly worked at the place we ate, if she would be willing to take a picture of us. Normally people are very open to this sort of thing, even if they are at work (it is a polite thing to do for customers in my most humble opinion), but the answer my wife received was a most resounding, and respectful, "No, that is against my religion".
Each one of us had a 'pause' moment in our lives. First, we were confused - until she brought another employee to take our picture. Then we were confused again as we talked among ourselves about what religions actually have this belief. We had a few ideas, but moved on from it as it brought us to a short conversation about our faith in what WE believe.
It interests me greatly the fact another's beliefs can so easily move one to begin to look upon their own. I know many times I have offered advice pushing and encouraging others to be sure in what they believe, no matter the 'thoughts' and 'worries' of what someone may think about them, but in this circumstance, being on the 'other side' of the equation I am reassured of the wisdom in such advice.
What you may feel is right in living and moving along in the Will of God, may not exactly be what another feels is right, but by you doing it and sticking to it (trying best to not be a stick in the mud) can, and will encourage others in their own beliefs even if the one you are standing upon means little to nothing to them personally.
When was the last time you inwardly challenged your belief?
