Lesson taught by Abi, Notes taken by derk
2 Samuel 13,14
"you want something really bad, but you know you are not suppose to have... and then you KNOW those people you can go to in order to get the 'bad' advice that YOU want to get.. what you want"
Have you ever done this?
Now we learn that a brother rapes his sister.. and getting what he wants.. he chooses to hate her
Advice
"No food in the bedroom" - Savvy
"Don't play hooky by pretending to be sick" - Abi
What he wanted actually gave him something negative instead of positive ... He was certainly expecting something different and would not take 'blame' on himself
Absalom's advice to his sister is a bit confusing and "do not take this to heart" hard to accept.. we had some theories on it.. how about you?
David chooses NOT to discipline his son.. seems like an odd choice
Revenge is a dish best served cold.. Certainly Amnon thought that he got away free of his mistake and it seems that David may have a good idea of the intentions
Is it possible that 'bad advice guy' (Jonadab) was the one that seemed to KNOW what actually happened to Amnon.
David shows almost thankfulness that Amnon is now dead.. maybe looking at the situation that he did not have to take care of it.. or that he wanted Absalom to be 'ok' now
David is reprimanded in the same fashion that Nathan did during the Bathsheba incident.. and this resulting in the returning of Absalom to the kingdom - though without having contact with David.
Absalom.. has an interesting way of getting his messages answered.. if only we were the same way about our text messages and emails.. HA!
If asked by someone for advice are you quick to give the 'truth' or tell them what they want to hear?
