What derk taught on tonight ... if you missed out! (UNVEILED)

 2 Samuel 15

two half stories

v 1-6: (yes. 6 this time.) Absolom's work ethic was very good. WORK ethic. not moral ethic. ok. got that covered. but his moral ethic sucked so who cares. not really. the point: if your morals are off, your work ethic does not matter.
It wasnt that the kingdom wasnt serving the people, but that Absolom was making it seem that way.
it's politics! talk to the right people, say the right words, get the right entorage, in the right place to make yourself look just right.

v. 7-12: four, forty; tomato, potato.
have you ever been in a situation when you got roped into a following, and then realized it wasn't quite legit? Are we vigilant to question the motives of our leader, when compared to the word of God
If we don't step up to/for people, the worst that could happen later is partially our fault.

V 13-14: David decides to run away from his son. Was he saving countless lives in avoiding a battle, or is he running from the responsibility of disciplining his son?
"for we shall not escape" choosing his battles well. He knows it will not end well.

v 15-22: the people's devotion to David, even from those who barely knew him. Despite Absolom's seeds planted over so many years, David's reputation still lived in the minds of the people.

v 23-26: Why send the ark out if youre just going to send it back in?
The ark was never meant to leave. When "Fabio" get backs to the kingdom, he could choose to chase after it and still fight. The ark is the symbol of the power in a way. It is what makes Jerusalem.
David knew if he was meant to be there, there would be a way for him to be there.
But God would always want the ark to stay.

v. 27-37: "Ahithophel." "bless you."
David is planting seeds of his own. (in the hity)
David is not giving up. he is setting up strategy, a plan, and a faithful court to receive him when he comes back. he seems to still have faith in Gods covenant with him.

When things start changing, we need to be ready to stand up and challenge it by the Word. Be prepared to stand up and speak the truth, no matter the consequences. And continue to have faith in the promises that God has made to you. But also be open to a new plan from God.
