1-4

What if you had been in David's shoes here... and you were given these items?  Is this a good thing?

Is the fact that Mephibosheth is siding back with Absalom a good thing?

5-14

We 'think' that this man is one of Saul's 'men' .. 

How would you feel that if you just got removed from your position and someone threw rocks and insult at you?

 

David could have responded by letting his men take care of him, but instead he looks at it as trusting in the will of God.

15-23

Ahithophel is dropping some crazy advice.. and the importance of it is great.. people stop and listen to him.. his reputation is great so Absalom does it on command

Could we have an attitude like Hushai with working with the king? ... maybe if we really see it as working in the will of God? 

17 - 1-4

Again Ahithophel gives advice... and all listen and see 'good' in it

5-14

 

It seems that if the advice of Athithophel was followed everything would have happened as said, but that does mean that God wants it to happen that way.

 

"For the Lord had determined to frustrate the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom." (We now actually see where God stands in this situation)

 

Have you every been hard pressed to know what advice you should follow in a particular situation?

The two priests are now rushing to bring to David the news of Absalom's moves and ways to go against them proper.

Somebody took it hard that his advice was not followed.. 

 

Have you ever felt slighted due to your advice or 'wisdom' not being listened to? 

 

Have you ever personally ignored advice, even knowing it was right?
