 Matthew 25:1-13 (no. you weren't in a coma. promise.)

Dissection time. 

Proverbs 20:27 "the spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching the innermost parts" The lamp could represent our Spirit. So all the characters in the story have a Spirit. Those who were unprepared had not searched the innermost of their heart. 

Those that run out of oil have the opportunity and the means to get more oil. The bride groom isn't here yet so I still have time to go get more. Waiting to accept salvation with the idea that you have plenty of time. Or waiting until your death bed to set things right. Some people don't get a death bed. Some people get hit by a bus. 

Being ready at all times. When was a time you were burnt out? Maybe you just aren't ready.

A thought. Unprepared people do just enough to get by and then expect someone else to have their back in their time of need.

Our own invitation to te wedding should be the first and most important concern to us. We must love Christ first and formost before we can effectivley love others. 

Why didn't any of the five prepared ever mention to the unprepared that maybe they should get prepared? Are we urging others to prepare themselves?

 

And then there was a bear.
