#Goonies Never Say Die! (Blurb) @SeanAstin_LA @Jeff_B_Cohen

Would you like to listen instead?

Kyley had the pleasure to experience the Goonies for the first time a little while back, and I was glad that she enjoyed it as much as I did as a kid.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW - IF YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS MOVIE*

The Truffle Shuffle

The Bone Organ

All of Data's awesome gadgets

"HEY YOU GUUUUYYYS"

But the one thing that made Ky's face light up? The ship ... that treasure filled ship!

I Love how the Goonies keep thinking they have found "the rich stuff" and have good moral reasons for that not being the truth!

-----------------

1: The Counterfeit Bills

They have just begun the adventure and made their first giant step toward the goal and Data finds the money press! In his excitement he runs to tell the others that they are SAVED! They quickly realize that the bills are fake and move on ... but what if they decided that was the solution they were after.

What if it ended there?

I am sure that by some miracle they could have gotten to the sheriff (as long as Chunk was not the one talking to him) and been able to help in the apprehension of the Fratelli family. The money press would be placed in evidence and Sloth would never get a Baby Ruth or come to 'love Chunk'!

...not the best ending

-----------------

2: The Wishing Well

Oh what a beautiful waterfall ... wait what is that sparkling below? MONEY!!! Tons and tons of... mostly pennies I am sure, but who knows how long those pennies had been thrown into the well!

But wait ... this is the old wishing well - each of these coins represents the wish of another, we can't take someone's wish!

But what if it had ended there?

It would have taken hours to get all of them & all of those coins out of there ... so that would have been pretty boring ...! Troy would have seen it as the beginning of the fufillment of his wish... The money MAY have been enough to pay off the "bad" guys, but it is likely Troy would have sabotaged it in some way, and Fratelli family would probably have died, as well as Chunk and Sloth.

...not the best ending

-----------------

3: One eyed Willie's treasure laden boat

They find that odd 'door' that they bust open and send little Rudy/Samwise/Mikey where he finally meets Wille eye to patch. Not sure if my first move would have been to peek under that patch, but who knows! Treasure is all over this room and the Goonies really have wondrous riches surrounding them! What to do! Fill your pockets, adorn those riches upon your neck, within your mouth! BUT ... BUT ... leave what is meant to be Willies'!

What if this was the end?

If Mikey let Data take the gold in the scales, the ship would have set sail! On one hand this is pretty awesome (I am sure by some form of movie magic they would have survived all the boulders falling on the ship, and I am going to take an artistic license and have the Fratellis actually not make it out alive - but Chunk and Sloth get out later meeting everyone on the beach) The ship would sail and those Goonies would easily find a way to sail to shore with all that "rich stuff".  This is when we find out that Data is really Short Round undercover for Indiana (who is on shore) and they demand that all the gold and riches are placed into a museum.

And again ... not the best ending

-----------------

"We had our hands on the future, but we blew it trying to save our own lives"

This is Mikey's response to his dad after narrowly losing his life in pursuit of the very thing that 'could' have saved the town.  We 'all' (as long as you did not read below the warning line above without having seen this movie) that the 'Goon Docks' are saved with a handful of  jewels and the insane adventure pays off for them.

What is victory?

What is the fulfillment of a dream?

The Goonies learned that it is not always what you thought when you set out to do it.  That sometimes just when you think you have accomplished your goal - it is really just the beginning, or possibly even a lie.

Let us not accept the counterfeits that are handed to us in life!

Let us not accept the wishes of those around us as what we NEED/HAVE/MUST do to be recognized!

Let us not accept the obvious riches that could cause us our lives!

The true end goal may be different than you imagined, but the result will be exactly what you need!
