Lifeguard... Mine Walks on Water #JustBeingHere #Blurb

Once upon a time... In a galaxy the same as this one.. And really it was not too long ago.. Sort of.. I was a lifeguard.

It has been a good amount of years since I wore the 'uniform'. I remember making the comment at the time if I did not need to get paid I would still teach kids how to swim. Some things have changed and some things are the same, but something about that job... and getting saved.. had me Bible thumpin' crazy.

Most of my lifeguard years were spent with the YMCA Goodtimes center teaching swim lessons, pretty much all day long. I always enjoyed it because I was never just sitting in a stand all day 'doing nothing'.

One year was different. I was tired of some things and decided to work on the military base we lived near as a guard instead.

The big trouble here was this was the year right after I had truly accepted Christ and my entire outlook on everything was different... How different?

For one.. I almost left the job when I found out I was going to have to work on Sundays, which I may write about in the future, but another was my Christian ideals birthing. One of them being faith in the miraculous.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
-Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

A desire and activity I often practiced was 'walking on water' in the kiddie pool during my breaks.

The sentence is a tiny bit misleading... So let me give you a better idea in the format of prose:

---------

I was just sitting there. Looking at the water watching it bouce up and down from its former occupants. Odd how even though no one had been there for a good while the water remembered them.

I enjoy the look and movement of water. I find it artful and inspiring. I decided to find something else in it today. I would find a miracle. Yes, That would be nice.

I take a step forward onto the concrete lip of the baby pool.  I take one last look around to be sure there are no witnesses and think to myself it would be hard to explain my awesomeness.  I start to take the next step and stop.

I think for a moment, what if I witness it, what if it does not work because I was watching, what if.. no.. stop thinking like that.

I close my eyes.  I take the step forward - the water is only a few inches from my foot.  I can feel the nearness, I can already see myself upon it - my foot drops, touches the surface of the water.. I choose not to pause but to put all of my faith into the step..

My foot CRASHES through the surface and to the bottom of the baby pool.

I open my eyes, take a quick look around.. and walk away.

---------

Yeah, I wanted a miracle... I wanted something spectacular and wonderful to happen to me.  I told myself I just wanted to do it for myself, so I would know... but really... I was not really wanting God to somehow solidify water, but instead to solidify my faith.

He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
-Matthew 12:39 (NIV)

I would like to say I only tried it once... or even five times, but the truth is - I have no idea how many times I tried.  It could have been 10... or it could have been 50.

How many times have you tried to get a sign in hopes of your faith becoming more solid?

It doesn't matter, and neither did it then!

My faith is stronger anyway, without my walking on any water, then ... or now.  My God has brought me into and through so many things to solidify my faith, I can really look back and see moments of stepping out of the boat.  Not actually physically walking on water, but seeing God do wonders in this world... through others.. and sometimes... even me.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
John 14:12 (NIV)

Jesus assured us that we could, and would do great things, so there is really no need to try and force it out.  Let God guide you, and great things will come. They may even be happening right now!

Have you ever tried to walk on water, or something like that before?

NEW changes coming to the Magic 4 Christ channel on Youtube!

Ever since I did the big concert/get together last year I wanted to go a bit bigger and, hopefully, a bit better.

I decided to team up with any music artist willing to be on the channel and share with you all some music and magic!

Right now I have two artists already filmed and ready for editing. Seeker and Servant, whom I found music for on Noisetrade and wrote a review for on C|C.  The other is my good friend, Tim Griffin, who actually played the event last year. He let me film all the songs he did at the event and those will all be in the videos.

It should be a fun experience and in the end - all for a great cause.

If you are a music artist willing to contribute, please contact me to work something out! Thanks.

Where would you rather be?  In the middle of them? ... on the bottom of them? .. or on top?
Romans 12:2

My Youngest Son's Heart (Blurb)

You have seen a bunch of Kyley, and as well you have read of Elijah - now for the youngest of the bunch - Asher!

I cannot explain to you the joy, the happiness that this little guy can call up in my spirit!

Both the older kids just playing ball (Softball and Tball) and this is not new to you if you have read my blog for the past two weeks, but what you would not know is the excitement and desire that the youngest of my three seems to have for the game.

Check out this video where he is running the bases!

He has a great heart for song and playing instruments - check out this little worship leader!

He is Doe Doe The Magnificent's biggest fan! See here where he does a bit of juggling - and he is just like me in the store, picking up balls and trying to juggle them all the time.

Just a few weeks ago he was terrified of water - can you tell?

Fear gives a constant battle to all of us.  We have no idea the things that the person beside us is even dealing with.  We should strive to be an encouragement at all times.  Maybe it will be just the thing needed for that person to hop into the water and gain the same kind of joy my son is showing in the photo above!

Push through fear to enter a moment of excitement and joy!

My Daughter's Heart (Blurb)

I must say, I am quite impressed by my daughter, for many reasons.

She has done very well in Softball her first year playing, honestly way better than I imagined when we started.

This is one of her first big hits, and she only got better from there!

She has been in dance for years, and truly has a wonderful grace (hmm.. ) in her movements, as well a creative mind for choreography!

One of her dance teachers said this about her. (pictured with Kyley above)

She came up with this dance pretty much all by herself!

She has created some wonderful works of art over the years, and recently has begun to create jewelry!

If she has free time, she is much like me, and would rather be doing something instead of being 'bored'.

So while in the store looking for a case for her collection (of DC figurines) we came upon a set of beads inside what could very well be the perfect display case.  She looked at it and we discussed the price being worth it due to the fact all parts would be used and enjoyed.

Not long after getting into it Kyley revealed her idea.  She decided to make bracelets and necklaces and charge 1.00 a piece for them to help support the kids going to camp.

We have a bunch of kids who want to go to camp and their families do not quite have the funds to make such a thing happen.  We did not want to turn anyone down so we are doing what we can to raise support for them to go.

Kyley noticed this, knowing of the yard sale idea (which was Saturday May 25th @Lakewood), and took it upon herself to take what she had been given and instead of just covering herself from head to toe in custom Kyley made jewelery - she would turn that into funds to help others have fun and learn about Jesus at camp!

I can only hope she will always have such a selfless attitude. Our talents were never meant to be something we keep hidden, or adorn ourselves with.

They are meant to bless others!

Whether it is the purchaser, or the one who receives the funds - in this case for certain, Kyley will be a blessing to many.

There is not much else she could do that would make me more proud then this seemingly small action does!

She is wonderful!

Bible Story - An Unexpected Guest (Card Trick on The Death and Resurrection of Jesus)

A pretty cool telling of the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ!

John 20:19
New International Version (NIV)
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
