1 Samuel 29 and 30
The philistines are gathering together and David is with them.. Though the other men (leadership) are upset that David is there
David is actually rejected and sent away from the battle
It is interesting that Akish keeps bringing up.. Or mentioning the Lord as he spoke to David
David always seems to lay his trust in God.. No matter the situation..
How many times have we been in a place like this... A place of desperation.. To move to do something like David is
We may not have enimes like David but we may do things we would not thin we would do otherwise.. Or we may decide to use tactics.. Like gossip or anger against someone in stead of praying and showing love
At this moment is really looks as if David is ready and willing to fight his people... We really can thank God?. Or he can.. Because these men.. That were really not 'of God' yet they pulled him from having to do something that really would have been wrong for him to do as well his home was attacked..
Was it the distraction. Of war that opened him to be attacked into his family.. Now left unprotected
David looks to God in this situation.. His men were ready to kill him.. Blaming him...
What might you have done in a situation like this?
David sets to turn the situation around... And God showed up.. And responds to his question
This really shows Davids compassion by leaving his men that were tired.. As well as his foresight to help this unknown man without asking who he was.. Taking time from HIS mission to help another in need...
Can we have that much love and compassion!
Amazingly this man.. That could have been seen as a distraction is the actual way to get to the people that have their families...
You may just be passing up the solution to all your problems when you pass another in need
Because they were partying.. David really has easy pickings and gets his people back and even more than what they had before
Even those that stayed home took of the spoils.. Because of David.. This actually set into law/tradition to be thankful to those that stay behind
And through it all David is sure to give God the Glory for the win!
David also shares the blessing that God has given him... Starting the restoration process with his soon to be subjects
