I Nailed It... My Tire that is... (Blurb)

Have you ever had a nail in your tire?  If you have you could skip most of what I am about to explain - unless of course you just enjoy my wonderful way with words.

When you run over a nail and it embeds itself into your tire and acts much like a plug.  What I mean is that the nail not only creates a hole in the tire that is obviously bad for the tire, but simultaneously becomes the very thing that keeps your tire from failing... mostly.

This is the deceiving nature of this kind of wound.  The process by which you may 'patch' the problem is a tiny bit insane.  First, you must remove the nail and you must quickly fill it again with something so that all of your air is not lost - to do this you use a round file.  You shove that file in and file away the rubber in the hole that is already there - you basically make the hole bigger.  This in many ways defies logic because you would think to make the 'wound' larger you would only create a greater problem.

You then take another tool with an odd hook on the end.. with a rubber piece pulled through and rubber cement covering it; and you shove that into your new hole.  If you had not made it bigger - this piece does not fit well - as well if the hole is too coarse it cannot fill it properly without air loss.  The first time (and only time at this point in my life) that I had to do this .. I messed up about three times.. losing air all the while until finally getting it to pull out .. leave the rubber part in the tire and not sound like it was leaking.  This is not meant to be a permanent fix - you are suppose to get a new tire .. But I kinda doubt too many people do that.

Life.. and doing things in the right way.. seems to work this way for me very often.  I think I know how a problem should be solved, but what I have not realized is that my problem is much like this punctured tire.  I need to be prepared with the tools of the trade before ripping out the foreign object that has found it's way into me.

Each tool has a purpose - and is critical to the finishing of the task properly.

When sin (like the nail) enters our lives it is something that we will miss until larger symptoms appear.  For the tire .. it goes flat - with sin - you may get angry quicker .. or begin to feel large feelings of depression.. really there are endless possibilities.

We have to learn what our sin 'tell' is.  And we likely have more than one.  If we can learn the tell.. then we can know when we need to administer the fix.

I do not want to turn this into a "12 Step" post... so to simplify ...

When we go to God and give Him our sins - we expect them to just be gone and to not ever have to worry about them again, but anyone that has done this.. knows that this is untrue.  We still deal with consequents of our choices.. no matter the forgiveness that God grants.  If you punch a wall in a fit of anger.. all around you.. and God may forgive you, but your hand will still hurt.

We need to HEAL from our sins .. when they are removed we lose something within us... we need to refill that.. our wound may be aggravated by the healing process but if we do not embrace that, then the seal cannot be good enough to keep us together.  We may need to open it up a few times and fill it a few times until we get it right, but it can be filled .. and it can be healed.

Embrace the convictions that come into your life!  When you are being pressed by the spirit .. .when you realize that you are developing a 'flat tire' .. move into the process that is necessary .. sooner.. rather than later and finally .. do your best to avoid the 'nails' that Satan, flesh, and life may just leave in your path.
