"You Will Fight For Me"
I have thought it over many times and.. yes .. I do believe that you (Melanie) are one of the the very few reasons I would end up in a fight.. I would gladly knock someone out in your name!
No .. really .. my wife and my kids. I think I would certainly stand to defend them tooth and nail - if it actually came to that kind of fight, but honestly I do not think that is what she means.
She knows that I am a passive person (as long as anger is not clouding my thoughts) and that I will always do my best to avoid an actual physical confrontation. I do not really see violence as an answer to most situations. I believe in the power of words.. and body language.. Jesus stopped some insane terribleness by just drawing in the sand!
I believe that she means that I stand for what she believes.. in who she is. I do not let others talk down to her or disrespect her. I step in and 'defend' her.. with words. Just the other day (I am writing this on 02/23/12) I had to talk it over with my daughter how she should speak to her mother.
I pray that I can uphold the true and upright example of how I expect others to treat my wife. It would be a terrible thing to demand of others.. what I cannot give her myself.
