For Fans Of Coldplay, The National, John Mark McMillan, Anthony Skinner, Bon Iver
Interestingly this album is alongside a book of the same title - written by the same artist. This greatly interests me - I plan to read the sample chapter located in the download .. and may post about my thoughts here if I get it done soon enough - and if I like it I will likely get the book as well, then review it...
and - as for the music
It is an Alternative ... almost folk sound - not really close to rock, but I feel the need to throw that in as well.
Jason's voice is interesting... it has an almost dreamy feel to it - not sure if that is the best way to describe it, but yeah -
(Some of the songs seemed to end with some static, much like someone grabbed the needle to a record and scratched it, or it is on a bad television channel... any, doubt it was intentional, just be aware if you have on headphones - as it can be kind of jarring)
Stand Outs:
"Dreams Visions Revelation" - I really like the 'walk through the bible' in this song - understanding God is something that everyone seems to want - something that is unfathomable, but all we can get is tiny glimpse ... this song shows many of those things we can see Him in. It gives us such tiny understanding, but it is more than if we were blind to where He was - Thank you Lord for showing us!
"Prelude" - Ah, where do you get your 'fix' - what is it that you are waiting for ... that will be the 'solution' to your problem ... I like the reality of this song - that not only can an addiction be alcohol and drugs - but TV series, Video Games, Just struggling for tomorrow can be an addiction!
"On The Other Side of Love" - I really liked the musical interlude around the 2min mark in the song!
