I reviewed CJ's stuff before HERE : http://derkopenedeyes.blogspot.com/2012/06/cj-wiseman-sunglasses-free-music-review.html
I was asked by the artist to review this - I used bandcamp to listen and give my own opinions
10 Songs
Overall Thoughts:
I found an improvement from when I first reviewed, but mainly due to the other songs that are on the album.. there are some pretty interesting diamonds in the rough here.. some very great ideals and 100% lifting of Christ.. certainly the driving force of the album
He is still very rough when it comes to recording and execution of singing/rapping the lyrics.. again.. as I said in my last review.. the lyrics and such are very well and good thoughout.. very cool stuff.. but still .. fine tuning is needed in the 'singing' process.. as it seems a bit awkward at times.. although.. as the album moves on... it really does smooth out quite a bit..
Recording Thoughts:
Ok ... Amateur
Stand Outs:
"Sunglasses" - ever since listening to this the first time.. I find that it totally gets stuck in my head.. I really do enjoy the lyrics and the message here.. but just would enjoy a MUCH smoother execution.. (the bass is a bit too much..)
"Lighthouse" - one of the smoother ones on the album.. and again.. great lyrics.. very good message about God being the guiding force in life.. I certainly enjoyed the beat!!
"Unbelievable" - very slick beat.. actually this one is quite smooth as well.. such a great uplifting of God!
"Time" - Great message about going To God.. knowing that the best time to move on.. and give oneself to God.. is.. NOW as .. soon as you can.. to start new.. the best time to start.. is NOW!! very much like An Epic, No Less... or rather as most people know.. Owl City.. (if you do not know An Epic, No Less.. check it out by clicking here)
"Glacier Star" - I did not 'get' this..
"How Sweet The Sound" - interesting rendition of "Amazing Grace" .. pretty cool putting it to electric/techno beat.. very slick.. very 'fun'
"Come Into His Presence" - more on the rough side.. oh.. but .. I could really see this sounding GREAT with a bit of refinement..
"Disaster" - this is REALLY great!! (still needs fine tuning) .. but very good.. more of a worship song.. to a degree.. really looking to God for the order of life.. and trusting Him fully.. Great message!!
